This is a terrific modern stereo system. It looks great and feels solid. Grippy rubber stuff on the bottom keeps it firmly planted on the counter, and there is a wall mounting hardware set if you want to hang it.

The sound is surprisingly full given the size of the unit. Out of the box, Panasonic has the bass boosted and I think it's too much. There are plenty of adjustments for tone, and it was easy to set it to better suit my kitchen environment.

I am particularly impressed with the Airplay feature. Since my wireless router doesn't have the WPS button, I had to use "Method 2" in the setup instructions. This involves connecting to the stereo using WiFi on a computer/iPod/iPad etc. and then pointing that device's browser to a specific IP address. This gives a menu for having the stereo search for your wireless router and then for entering the WiFi password. You can also set the stereo's Airplay name. Once finished, iTunes on your computer/iPod/iPad will see that name as a choice in the Airplay menu. You can adjust the stereo's volume from iTunes and any adjustments to volume, stop/pause, or track selections on the stereo remote will be reflected back to your computer or handheld device. Very, very cool. A standby features allows the unit to wake automatically from sleep if requested by an Airplay device, and a remote App for the iPod/iPad mirrors all buttons on the stereo remote it is out of range (it is an IR remote).

The iPod dock lives behind a sheet of glass-smooth plastic that slides to the side with motorized coolness to allow the dock to automatically move forward. I've docked an old generation 1 iPod Touch. With either the iPod itself or the stereo remote, you can move among the iPod menus to select tunes or playlists. The stereo also charges the iPod and indicates if the iPod is still charging when you power the stereo down.

The CD player lives behind the same robotic panel. It plays as you would expect. Sounds good and the CD mechanism doesn't make any noise.

Using the radio requires connecting the little wire antenna provided. The system will automatically scan and fill presets for all available stations. Sounds good and is easy to setup once you read the instructions.

The software in the unit can update itself once you've connected it to your WiFi. Mine didn't require an update.

I really like this system and hope Panasonic sells a lot of them. I might have to get a couple more for other rooms...

My faithful stereo of nearly 15 years bit the dust and I started looking for something the right size, with a CD changer. My old stereo had a 5 CD changer and this one only holds 4, one in the main unit and three in the add-on changer, but it was the best I could find in a good size. It has some excellent points and some that I don't really like, so research before you buy. First, the issue of clarity/sound. This little guy has great sound and the clarity is mind-boggling, but this is, to my mind, a unit that was first designed for people who listen to classical music and other music styles where the sound of each individual instrument is important. This unit does that incredibly well, especially with earphones. The volume is great unless you're in a gigantic room (and it will still get pretty loud)and the sound, on any type of music, is good. However, if you like rattle-the-windows percussion where the drums are beating your heart for you, this may not be your best choice. I find that the drums sound good, but aren't as prominent as some stereo systems make them and there is no equalizer to tweak it and get it rocking better. Still, for most people it won't be that much of a problem. It also has no buttons to push. Yep, nothing, nada. There's a place to press on top of it (but no button or anything; you just pat it like you would a puppy, very gently) to turn it on or off, but no other place on it to adjust anything. It's all remote control driven. I'll just admit up front that I do not like the remote control. It's a so-called "credit card" remote and yes, it is very thin, but that's part of the problem. It's very thin, absolutely covered with buttons (but no numeral buttons to go straight to a particular song) and there's not any place really to hang onto it without pushing a button. It's hard to hold and that makes it hard to use. Plus, I had to buy a second one since I found that with no buttons on the unit, I was constantly hunting the remote and it was always across the room. I also don't like the way it kicks out a CD. It only puts it out a little way, so you have to take hold of the disk to pull it the rest of the way out. I like to put my finger in the disk center to avoid touching the disk, but you can't do that since it's not far enough out.

All this sounds like I don't like it at all, but really I'm pleased with it overall. I think that Bose should update a little to accomodate the fact that a lot of their listeners now are beginning to be rock and rollers and they like more drum sound. I really think an expensive unit like this should have an equalizer to give some choice about the sound you want, though I admit that with more percussion, they might have to have bigger speakers, which would increase the size and the cost. Still, it's a great unit and so little bitty that it hardly takes any space at all, maybe 15 inches or so wide. Other good points include the incredibly fast set-up (VERY easy) and the CD changer is fairly quiet and fast, compared to most stereos that clang and clunk for a minute or two.

Bottom line, I like the stereo and if it lasts a decent amount of time (which only time will tell) it will be well worth the money. Most of the bad points aren't that bad and the good points are pretty good, so I am pleased, overall.

Thee product itself is awesome. I got the dock, remote, charger, everything. The display is clear, and it comes with all the features it says. If you read the instructions, it's easy to program everything. The speakers them self are good. They satisfy my needs for a decent bass, treble, and good overall sound for a low price.

The only reason why this isn't a 5, is because of the delivery. While the product arrived at my house on time, the box sustained heavy damage, and I opened it to find part of the speaker dented in. While it still being able to play with great sound shows the good quality, the delivery itself was terrible. I mean, for it to have half of the speaker dented is completely unacceptable. But, I'm lazy and didn't send it back since the only damage was "beauty" damage.

Overall, as long as you don't get a bad delivery service, this product is awesome!

This product really has everything is written in the description, and that means it does a lot of things, and that's exactly what I needed.
The alarm clock rings with a song from your Ipod, or with the radio, or even with a common beep.
Compared to similar systems, I like the fact that it has the radio, which is somethinng that is missing from my Ipod.
The connection between Ipod and the speaker is stable and strong, and safe for your Ipod as well, you may need the adaptor that comes with the package depending on the Ipod model you have, and the speaker works also as charger for the Ipod.
The speaker itself works very well, of course this is not hi-fi quality, I'd say it sounds like a common computer speaker, which is ok for me also considering the price and all the other features that ottavo has. ( come on!, it has a remote control, tooo!)
If you're looking for a multifunctional object to complement your Ipod functions, this is great!

I purchased this item as a gift for my husband. He's a very light sleeper and has a hard time staying asleep at night. He was constantly exhausted due to lack of sleep but that didn't help him stay asleep at night. He was using sleeping pills every night but still never felt rested. After about 15years my alarm clock finally died and it was time for a new one. The panasonic RC-DC1 works pretty much as advertised and I couldn't be happier with it.

All settings are able to be changed without an ipod/iphone via the buttons on the sides and face, however with an idevice things are very simple and intuitive.

A couple of quirks, however. Syncing the time, the alarm settings, and the radio presets are all separate actions. The alarm and radio presets are set by hitting sync on different screens of the memory loader app. They do not sync at the same time, as I learned when I woke up to static instead of a radio station. Although you select what preset/frequency you want on the alarm setting screen, it actually sets the radio only to a preset (preset 1, 2, etc) rather than the actual frequency of the station. If you haven't synced your presets, it'll tune to the default frequency, which in my area is nothing but static. Obviously, you probably won't be changing your radio presets very often, but after a power outage or whatnot there will be at least three sync actions to perform. That being said, this is something that could easily be improved by an update to the memory loader app.

The time is synced by pressing a button on the front of the clock. I actually like this feature because I like to set my alarm clock a couple minutes ahead and it won't be reset every time I adjust the alarm settings.

The events setting is pretty much useless. It seems as though it only will display events from the address book (birthdays... and that's pretty much it). It does not display events from the calendar. Again, this seems like something an update to the app could fix.

As far as the dock itself, it seems adequate to accommodate just about any configuration of ipod/iphone and whatever case you may have. There is about 1/3 of an inch space on each side of my iphone 4 sans case, and a small support beam that can be raised or lowered to support the back of the device. Once in place my iphone has a fair bit of wiggle room and is not seated particularly firmly, but it works well enough.

The display is back-lit and is a bit bright. The snooze button doubles as a dimmer button and there are three brightness settings. The brightest is too bright for me at night, but the lowest setting isn't bad and still very readable during the daytime. The volume is also more than adequate. The default volume level of 13 is way too loud, I turned mine down to 9... the thing is right next to my head. Sound is also pretty decent for a dinky little speaker in an alarm clock.

Overall, I love this thing. You can customize all your alarm settings, then plug your iphone in and sync it. Either alarm 1 or 2 will play from the ipod, buzzer, or radio, and either of them can be set for whichever days of the week you wish. You can even customize the length of the snooze. In my research this is easily the most, and easiest, customizable alarm clock I've seen.
